Looking for a perfect golf break?
♫ Monday, February 9th, 2009At the southern tip of Europe, it has been said that the Algarve is one of Europe’s most unpolluted areas runs around 155 kilometers along the Atlantic Ocean.
The Algarve is rich in history, full of sunshine, fresh fish, superb sports facilities, including some of the world’s best golf courses completed with golden sandy beaches.
These hotels are the perfect base from which to enjoy a relaxing golf break; offering outstanding facilities including spas, swimming pools, restaurants and gyms along with luxurious comfort and great service.
Perhaps the most beautiful golf course in the Algarve, San Lorenzo is positioned alongside the spectacular Ria Formosa nature reserve featuring numerous lakes and is encircled by a pine forest but the course offers more than just a beautiful landscape; it’s a fine mix of shortish holes, “thinking” holes and frightening ones!
The Penina Championship Course is the oldest golf course in the Algarve and the course is considered to be a masterpiece from architect Sir Henry Cotton. The Penina Championship has hosted the Portuguese Open on several occasions.
Opened in 1974 the Quinta do Lago South golf course is one of the most challenging courses and well known golf courses in Europe. Apart from the strategically placed bunkers there is the fantastic hole number 15, a par 3, which, when played off the championship tee, calls for a 200-metre shot over a lake and onto the green surrounded by trees.
Portugal’s premier holiday destination, the Algarve, is easily accessible from most european cities, with many regular airlines and low cost flights landing in Faro Airport.
